Traditional Net Metering application windows officially closed last year, and Cyprus has fully entered the phase of Net Billing.
While Net Metering operated on simple, administratively set energy offsets—crediting production directly at the retail electricity rate—Net Billing operates closer to true market logic, compensating exported energy based on wholesale values. While a formal government subsidy scheme specifically for residential Net Billing installations has not yet been announced, this transition opens a practical opportunity for private homeowners to integrate their own battery storage systems to maximize self-consumption.
Meanwhile, commercial and agricultural Net Billing installations face no such delay and actively continue across the island.
