Government incentives
The Cyprus RES and Energy Conservation Fund is the primary financial mechanism designed to help the country achieve its national renewable energy and energy conservation targets. Its core mission is to provide financial incentives, in the form of subsidies and state grants, to both individuals and businesses investing in energy efficiency improvements and renewable energy technologies. The Fund aims to upgrade the energy efficiency of the existing building stock, lower everyday energy costs, and improve the overall quality of life for citizens.
The Fund has had a substantial impact on the promotion and adoption of renewable energy across the island. For instance, between 2019 and 2020 alone, the Fund received over 5,200 applications for general public photovoltaic installations and over 1,400 applications specifically from vulnerable electricity consumers. Its structured support schemes have been highly successful, driving the deployment of thousands of new residential PV systems across Cyprus, significantly increasing the country's solar capacity.
Currently, there are no open subsidy schemes as the Government is evaluating its further steps for upcoming programs. Once new schemes are officially announced, we will immediately update this page with all the relevant details, but for now, you can check the Fund's official website:
